Recently featured as Hawai‘i Luxury Magazine‘s “Best of Islands: Design,” HUE is Maui’s newest home boutique and design studio, featuring fresh and current furnishings and accessories, perfect for a modern island lifestyle. Owners/Designers, Jessica McLellan and Wendy Takemoto call it “beach luxe, with bolder colors, modern patterns and very nontraditional pieces that are fun, playful and funky. Our focus is to carry items that no one else on the island has – things you’d personally covet for your own space.” Design services are also available. Jessica McLellan

Jessica is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers. NCIDQ Certificate #26313. She has worked on design projects ranging from private residences and luxury hotels, to office spaces and retail venues. She is a proud graduate of Maui’s own Seabury Hall, where she is an active member of the Alumni Committee. Jessica attended New York University where she studied the History of Architecture and Art History.

She went on to study at the Art Institute of Seattle, where she earned her degree in Interior Design. Jessica has been recognized for creative and practical solutions to interior design on both Maui and Oahu. She was featured in the Modern Luxury Hawaii’s “Best of The Isles 2008” premier issue, in which she was recognized for her efforts towards promoting the movement towards sustainable design here in the islands.

She has also been a featured professional in Pacific Business News, as well as the nationwide publication Interiors and Sources magazine. Her clients praise her for her imaginative color palettes, use of and textiles, as and an overall refreshing approach to design. Her signature style combines natural elements with hints of glamour to create timeless and inviting spaces.

Wendy Takemoto

For over a decade, Wendy Takemoto has been designing high-end residential homes throughout California, and the Hawaiian Islands. After studying architecture at the University of Southern California, she worked in Los Angeles for “Hollywood Legend” designer, Carol Poet, of Poet Design Company. Returning home to Oahu in 2004, she was hired by the interior design department at the architectural firm of Long & Associates in Honolulu. There she worked on numerous private estates directly with the owners as well as “spec” homes with award winning builders and architects. Eleven of which are located in Maui’s west side community of Kapalua. She has been featured in I’m Home, a design magazine from Japan, Hawaiian Style Magazine, and the Honolulu Star Bulletin for her work.
